For Reliability And Flexibility
(Business Wire; 10/01/98)
BELTSVILLE, MD. (Oct. 1) BUSINESS WIRE -Oct. 1, 1998--MICROS Systems Inc.
(NASDAQ:MCRS), a leading provider of information management solutions for the
hospitality industry, announced Thursday that Grandy's, a Texas-based home
style restaurant chain, has selected the MICROS 2400 Point-of-Sale (POS) System
with Manager's Workstation Plus (MWS+) as the POS and operations management
system for its 86 corporate restaurants.
Together, the MICROS 2400 POS and MWS+ solutions integrate POS hardware and
software with back office capabilities into a single complete solution for
Grandy's.
The combination of the MICROS 2400 POS's flexible custom database programming
and ruggedized touchscreen hardware provides Grandy's with a simplified
ordering system for its diverse menu, cutting training time and increasing
customer order accuracy.
Using MICROS's Microsoft(R) Windows(R)-based back office system, MWS+, many
labor and inventory functions will be automated, reducing time spent on
administration.
Grandy's selected MICROS for its new POS and restaurant management system based
on two major considerations. One was the proven reliability and data security
of the 2400 POS/MWS+ system. The second was MICROS's responsiveness in
developing custom applications and integrating the 2400 POS system data into
Grandy's existing corporate systems, facilitated by the open system approach of
MWS+.
"The performance of the MICROS 2400 POS with MWS+ in our test sites convinced
us of the system's reliability," said Bob Blum, director of planning and
analysis for Grandy's. "With the 2400 POS, Grandy's has a solution with proven
performance and a standard platform for future Windows-based applications."
"The 2400 POS with MWS+ will give Grandy's operational improvements over its
current system, significantly enhance its ability to implement and control
database changes for its stores, and support future franchise growth," says
Fred Goebel, vice president and general manager of the MICROS Quick Service
Restaurant Business Group.
