Successful Debut of PhotoArts Etc. Franchise in Escondido Mall Prompts Expansion Plans for IDTec

VISTA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1999--The first PhotoArts Etc. retail kiosk, which is taking the technology of wide format printing directly to the consumer, has encouraged the company to accelerate its expansion plans.

PhotoArts Etc., the retail franchising arm of International Digital Technology Inc. (``IDTec'') (OTC BB:IDTX - news), based in Vista, opened in the North County Fair Mall, in the San Diego County city of Escondido, on Nov. 24, 1998.

PhotoArts Etc. is able to enlarge any image, like a snapshot, up to 16 inches x 20 inches in less than an hour. Larger sizes of up to 4 feet by 40 feet are also available. Images can be produced on more than 30 specialty substrates, including canvas, vinyl, backlit, silk, cotton, foils and a variety of papers.

Roger Peters, IDTec vice president of Franchise Operations, who was instrumental in the development of the Fotomat kiosk concept and previously held key executive positions at Mail Boxes Etc. and Burger King, is in charge of future expansion of PhotoArts for IDTec.

``We were very excited about the revenue generated by the kiosk during the year-end holiday season,'' said Anthony DeSio, CEO and chairman of IDTec. ``And we plan to begin full-scale franchising of the mall kiosk and our strip-center concept, which incorporates a portrait photography studio, an art gallery and a custom frame shop.''

DeSio, who founded Mail Boxes Etc. and was its CEO until the company was sold to U.S. Office Products last year, recently took over the helm of IDTec.
