APR 29, 1999, M2 Communications - German-based Dillon Communication Systems GmbH and Imminus, the travel technology division of Telewest, have launched Merlin Ferry, a European ferry reservation and booking service. The service has been developed with both PC and kiosk front ends. The PC version, which has been designed for high street leisure travel agents and call centres, enables agents to enquire about ferry schedules, check availability, make bookings and print ticket vouchers. The kiosk-based system again offers an enquiry and ticket booking self-service facility for consumers or staff. Both versions will be marketed in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, while more countries will be added later.
