WH SMITH TO OPEN NET KIOSKS

WH Smith is to trial an Internet kiosk system allowing customers to access its web site for free from busy stores.
The service is aimed mainly at book buyers at railway stations and airports, and will be called book.co.
As well as stocking the latest range of books and magazine titles, travellers will able to use e-mail and get travel information.
The first store is to open at Leeds railway station in December.
"WH Smith books.co is a step towards our vision of providing customers with a seamless service," said chief executive Richard Handover.
"Whether they want to shop online or in a store, WH Smith will be there. "If they want their book delivered to their home or to be available for collection in their high street or at an airport, we will arrange it."
The group's publishing and Internet trading business had been enjoying "strong growth", he added.
WH Smith opened its own web site and free ISP (www.whsmith.co.uk) earlier this year, using content and technical systems provided by Microsoft MSN UK.
