TouchSystems Takes Steps to Intensify Focus on Touch PCs & Integrated Displays, Sells Components Business
Vice President of Operations Named New President
AUSTIN, Texas February 22, 2002 – In a move aimed at intensifying the company’s focus on the integrated touch display business, TouchSystems, Inc., today announced the sale of its touchscreen components operation to Touch International, Inc.
TouchSystems, a six-year-old company, will now focus exclusively on offering all-in-one PCs, fully integrated touch displays and peripherals used in industrial, medical, point-of-sale, military, education, and kiosk systems. TouchSystems also announced that Grieg Spidle, who was formerly vice president of operations, was named president of the company.
“With the sale of the components division, TouchSystems will move ahead with a dedicated focus on display integration and panel PC business, a strategy that will enable us to lead the way in bringing the most advanced systems to the touch systems market,” said Grieg Spidle, TouchSystems President.
TouchSystems will debut its second-generation panel PCs, IndustraTouch II and OpenTouch II, at National Manufacturing Week in Chicago, Illinois, March 18-21, Hall A, booth #4035.
Spidle has expertise in manufacturing science, quality systems, and manufacturing logistics. He achieved a track record in development and implementation of both touchscreen manufacturing and systems integration. Prior to joining TouchSystems, Spidle was Director of Operations with 3M TouchSystems, MicroTouch, and Touch Technology.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
