TouchVision and Cellular One Complete Customer Service Kiosk Prototype
SEAL BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 2000--Cellular One of Washington, DC/Baltimore and TouchVision Inc. Friday announced the development of an innovative system that enhances customer service. Cellular One customers can use convenient kiosks for self-service account management. Customers can retrieve real-time account information, bills can be paid using credit card or check, and special promotions and offers can be delivered to the individual customer. Cellular One can now place the interactive kiosks in convenient locations such as retail stores. This allows Cellular One to cost-effectively increase the number of payment stations and provide ease and convenience to customers to pay their bills and access account information.
``We are very excited about working with TouchVision to improve customer service while demonstrating Cellular One as a technology leader,'' said Annette Harris, application development manager for Cellular One. The solution is a network of kiosks connected by private wide area network to an application Web server. Customers touch the kiosk screen to activate the application on the Web server. The Web server in turn retrieves account information from the enterprise database server. The customer can pay bills using a credit card or a check scanner integrated with the kiosk and receive a printed receipt. The innovative software design allows the control of the kiosk peripheral devices from the remote application Web server. The network will be remotely monitored and managed from the TouchVision Network Operations Center.
