Siemens has appointed Richard Bearpark as head of its new Information and
Communication Products Group, part of the new Siemens Information and
Communications business segment formed on October 1, 1998 in response to the
growing requirement for converged IT and communications products and
services. In his new role as Group Managing Director, Richard Bearpark will
be responsible for developing the company's UK Information and Communication
Products business which is made up of four leading organisations:

o Siemens Communication Devices
o Siemens Computer Systems
o Siemens IT Service
o Siemens Nixdorf Retail and Banking Systems Limited

Together these four businesses will provide best-in-class products and
services, ranging from mobile and cordless phones to PCs, laptops, servers,
mainframes, retail systems, self-service systems and managed services.
Siemens Information and Communication Products is part of the DM50 billion
turnover Siemens Information and Communications segment, which is made up of
three Groups: Information and Communication Products, Information and
Communication Networks and Siemens Business Services.

Richard Bearpark was formerly the Managing Director of Siemens Nixdorf
Information Systems Limited, which achieved rapid growth under his
leadership. In the nine months to July 1998, UK sales were up 63 per cent,
building on the company's success the previous year when group revenue grew
almost 40 per cent to 354 million and new orders rose 70 per cent to 415
million.

Commenting on his new appointment, Richard Bearpark highlighted the strength
of the new Information and Communication Products Group's portfolio: "The
convergence of IT and communications is probably the most significant change
our industry has faced since the introduction of the Personal Computer some
25 years ago. Convergence is set to dominate our business for the next five
to ten years, and we are committed to helping UK customers take advantage of
this key development as we establish Siemens as the clear leader of
Information and Communication products in the UK."

Richard Bearpark was appointed Managing Director of Siemens Nixdorf
Information Systems Limited following its formation in October 1990. During
this period the company's revenues grew by over 350 per cent. Richard
Bearpark has spent 25 years working for Siemens Nixdorf and Nixdorf
Computer. He joined Nixdorf in 1973, and before he was appointed Managing
Director in 1989, was responsible for setting up the company's Retail
business in the UK which has itself grown to become a 150 million turnover
operation.
