Spyglass Forms Windows CE Consulting Practice to Address the Growing Demand for Embedded CE Professional Services Projects

New Windows CE Practice Designed to Provide Expertise to Consumer and Industrial Device Manufacturers

Naperville, Ill. - Monday, November 16, 1998 - Internet-pioneer Spyglass (NASDAQ: SPYG) announced today that it has established a Windows CE Consulting Practice to work with consumer electronics, telecommunications, office equipment, wireless, cable and direct satellite companies interested in developing products and services for the Windows CE platform. This is the latest in a line of practices created by Spyglass to enhance its Professional Services group.

"These new practices provide organizations with a time to market advantage by being able to leverage Spyglass' device-oriented expertise for their specific markets and applications," said Wayne Yurtin, director of business development for Spyglass.

"We are continually receiving requests from consumer electronics firms looking to us to help them provide both embedded and application specific professional services on the Windows CE platform. Our new Windows CE Consulting Practice is a result of this growing demand," he added.

In addition to providing customizations and integration around Spyglass' recently announced Device Mosaic for Windows CE browser, Spyglass is now developing a very diverse set of solutions for its customers.

Potential projects for the new practice include lower level custom shell development for companies developing Embedded CE devices such as rugged handheld computers, set-top boxes and kiosks. Spyglass will also work on systems used for machine control on the factory floor, as well as higher level application development and systems integration revolving around the palm-size PCs, handheld PCs and auto PC line of products based on Microsoft's Windows CE operating system.

"Spyglass has a wealth of experience and familiarity with the development of Windows CE-based applications on a variety of devices," said Frank Fite, director, Windows CE Product Unit. "This new practice makes sense in light of the momentum that is building for the Windows CE operating system as it applies to the device and embedded systems space."

In addition to providing a time to market advantage, organizations can now reduce staffing costs and meet product specific needs by tapping into Spyglass' Professional Services resources as needed.

Spyglass is also an approved Windows CE Systems Integrator, and has been providing Windows CE Professional Services work for direct licensees of the Windows CE operating system.
