According to the company, the solution includes a high-capacity kiosk that enables rentals and sales of shrink-wrapped media with a capacity of nearly twice that of other competing units. Furthermore, consumers can interact with it via the internet or their mobile devices.

Bill Nuti, chairman and chief executive at NCR said: "Our launch of this unparalleled digital media solution underscores our strategy of expanding into adjacent markets to drive future growth."

NCR entered into the digital media market with acquisition of Touch Automation, a privately held firm that designs and builds advanced digital media rental and sales kiosks.

The solution is expected to be released at the National Retail Federation's Annual Convention & Expo in New York during January 13-16, 2008.
