DALLAS, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Voice Control Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq: VCSI - news) a leading global supplier of speech recognition and related
technologies, will unveil its expanded SpeeehWave(TM) product line and
showcase its wide range of automatic speech recognition products through a
variety of application demonstrations at the Computer Telephony Demo Expo '98
conference in New York City.
Voice Control System, will offer two interactive, hands-on application
experiences at its booth (#1022). VCS' Exhibitor Directory application will
assist attendees with the tedious task of locating exhibitors in an unfamiliar
convention center. An attendee queries the speech-enabled system for an
exhibitor's location and a graphical user interface highlights the position of
the requested exhibitor in reference to the tradeshow floor plan. The
Exhibitor Directory showcases the technology of SpeechWave ReCite!(R), VCS'
flagship speech recognition product for mid-size vocabulary applications. The
second interactive application will highlight the dynamic real-time vocabulary
creation feature of Pure ReQuest!, VCS' speech-enabled automated attendant.
Attendees will be able to quickly and easily add a new name to the Pure
ReQuest! system by typing the name using the system keyboard. The typed name
will automatically be added to the system's active vocabulary, and the system
will be able to recognize anyone speaking the new name.
In addition to live demonstrations, Voice Control Systems will have on
hand several call-in applications enhanced with VCS technologies including:
Pure ReQuest! demonstrating the benefits of speech-enabled call routing;
Travel America illustrating the easy interaction with information systems that
speech recognition provides; Area Code Finder showcasing VCS' large vocabulary
phonetic recognition; Congressional Directory validating the power that speech
recognition brings to directory assistance applications; and Amy a personal
banking assistant, confirming the benefits of a speech-driven, natural human
interface. VCS' Help Desk Kiosk guides the user through a fun, easy and
