Patriot Scientific Signs Japanese Distributor Real Vision

Real Vision to Market Patriot's PSC1000 Java Microprocessor and Use Processor Core in Custom IC Designs

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1998--Patriot Scientific Corp. (OTC:PTSC - news), the developer of the first market-ready microprocessor for Java(TM), today announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Japan's Real Vision.

Under terms of the agreement, Real Vision will market Patriot's PSC1000 Java microprocessor in Japan and utilize the microprocessor's core in the design of custom integrated circuits (ICs). Serving customers such as Sony, Fujitsu, NEC, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Sharp and NKK, Real Vision is one of Japan's fastest growing semiconductor distributors and custom VLSI (IC) designers.

``Real Vision's entrepreneurial aggressiveness and blue-chip list of customers make it the perfect partner to bring our leading microprocessor products and technologies into this key market for Patriot,'' said Jim Lunney, president of Patriot Scientific. ``We feel that we have found an ideal Japanese partner in Real Vision and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.''

The Patriot PSC1000 Java microprocessor is the only true low-cost, high-performance, native Java processor. It is ideal for Internet-enabled information kiosks, cell phones, video phones, embedded Web servers, set-top boxes and a host of other new Internet appliances.

The 32-bit microprocessor, based on Patriot's patented ShBoom(TM) technology, is designed to provide cost-efficient solutions for the growing number of new Java applications, as well as other traditional embedded systems markets.

``We see great market potential for the PSC1000 because of its unique combination of low cost, high performance and Java capabilities,'' said Dr. Naoshi Sugiyama, president of Real Vision. ``Furthermore, Patriot's Java microprocessor core greatly augments our capabilities as custom VLSI designers. This agreement is consistent with our goal of providing comprehensive, turnkey solutions to Japanese companies aiming for rapid market entries.''

Real Vision joins a growing list of premiere international distributors for Patriot Scientific's leading-edge products and technologies.

Other Patriot distributors include Ineltek in Germany and Austria, Pantek Technology in Taiwan, Thame Components in the U.K., Integrated Electronics in Finland, Microtronics in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia), Iridium Data in Israel and Acetronix in Korea. Customers using Patriot's PSC1000 Java microprocessor technology include GENROCO, ASIC Design Task Force Inc. and Olea Exhibits Inc.
