Elo’s Program Promotes Touch-based Software Applications

Elo TouchSystems, Inc., the leader in touch technology and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raychem Corporation (NYSE:RYC), has launched the first alliance program between a touch technology company and the world’s leading independent software vendors (ISVs) who have designed their GUI for touch. The TouchReady program will allow Elo not only to create added value for ISVs, but also to directly serve Elo customers seeking software designed for touch applications by providing them with a directory of pre-qualified software developers ready to offer them a solution. Use of the TouchReady symbol further promotes the use of touch-enhanced applications worldwide and increases awareness of the full breadth of ‘touch’ software available today.

Since the program’s inception in November 1998, more than fifteen ISVs have been certified with the TouchReady symbol, including Intellution, ECR Software and NetShift Software. Applications range from industrial process and machine control, through multimedia kiosks, to retail and hospitality point-of-sale (POS).

“We welcome the opportunity to become a partner in Elo’s TouchReady program,” says Marlene Arnold, marketing programs manager for Intellution. “A natural synergy already exists between our process control software applications and Elo’s presence in this marketplace. Our FIX line of products have a user interface designed for use with touch input, so joining the program and promoting FIX as TouchReady is the next logical step for both of us.”

Participant Benefits
Software developers who qualify for the TouchReady program receive full marketing support from Elo, including use of the Elo logo and TouchReady symbol. Elo’s TouchReady partners will also benefit from participation in promotional and advertising opportunities, such as trade shows, and gain access to Elo’s industry-leading application engineers, as well as other Elo resources like Channel Connection, a section of Elo’s Web site reserved for its partners. “Joining Elo’s TouchReady program is the best way for ISVs to identify for the end-user that their application is designed for touch input, today’s fastest-growing interface technology,” says Bleeker.

Based on its current success in North America, Elo plans to launch the TouchReady program into Europe in Summer 1999.
