1. Microsoft's New Antitrust Strategy Further Validates Thin Client
Industry
==================================================
Microsoft revealed a new defense strategy in its antitrust trial last
week, suggesting that new services based on thin client and server-based
technologies will undermine the government's case by threatening to reduce
the industry's reliance on Windows.

2. Industry Trends - Thin Client Kiosks
==================================================
Earlier this year the META Group predicted that more innovative computing
models will emerge between now and 2002 and the result will be rapid
adoption of kiosks, along with other specialized devices, due to greater
technical and user acceptance and an increasing unwillingness to use PCs
in such architectures. Now, thin client devices and server-based
technologies are reshaping the kiosk industry by addressing the common
concerns of security, maintenance, processing speed and reliability.

3. Thin Planet - Now Available in 6 Languages!
==================================================
In an effort to better serve our international visitors, Thin Planet has
implemented an automated language translation capability that allows
visitors to perform real-time translation of many of the documents on our
site. Translation services are currently available from English to French,
German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Thin Planet documents are "machine translated" with no human involvement
or verification. The translation is being performed by the popular
"SYSTRAN" product that is used by more than 15,000 sites on the world wide
web. Machine translation is obviously not perfect, and the technical
nature of many of Thin Planet's documents is likely to make the
translation process challenging. However, since the SYSTRAN software has
been widely adopted on the Internet, we determined that its machine
translation is an excellent short term solution for our international
visitors.

For the initial roll out of this new service, we have built the
translation interface into all news documents and product spec sheets on
Thin Planet (more than 600 documents). In addition, all new editorial
documents have built-in translation capabilities. Pending favorable
visitor feedback, we will extend the translation capabilities to all
feasible documents on Thin Planet.

To see the translation in action, visit the Thin Planet News, select any
article for viewing, and then look for the translation tool on the upper
right side of the document:

4. Tech Boards - "Your Help Wanted"
==================================================
For Thin Planet's Tech Board Users we have introduced a new "Help Wanted"
tool designed to encourage quicker responses to your questions and help to
keep questions from going unanswered. Clicking the "Help Wanted" button
will display a list of all of the currently unanswered questions on the
Tech Boards. Currently, 7.5% of the total posts in our database represent
unanswered questions. With your help and the new "Help Wanted" tool, we
would like to reduce that figure and increase the value to all community
members.
