BELL CANADA - High-speed E-mail and Internet Access at Montreal's International
Monday, July 26, 1999 11:28 AM EST
Toronto, Ontario, Jul. 26, 1999 (Market News Publishing via COMTEX)
-- Travellers passing through Montreal International Airports at Dorval
and Mirabel now have e-mail and Internet access, using a new Bell
service that will also soon be available at Aeroports de Montreal's
downtown terminal.
Business and leisure travellers will now have easy access to e-mail
and the Internet using the new Bell Interactive Zone kiosks
have just been installed in strategic locations in the airports - eight
at Dorval and two at Mirabel.
The Interactive Zone kiosks will be fast and easy to use - features
greatly appreciated by people on the move. The system has been set up
with a very user-friendly interface, and provides access to the Web and
e-mail services, including Bell Sympatico(TM).
The cost for using this service is $2.50 for the first five minutes,
and 30 cents for each additional minute. Payment methods include major
credit cards or a Bell QuickChange(TM) card.
"The multimedia terminals at Universite du Quebec a Montreal,
installed two years ago, showed us that providing public Internet and
e-mail access answered a real need," explained Jean-Louis Ouellet,
Manager, Market Planning, Public Telecommunications for Bell. "This
need has increased in the past two years, and we are pleased to be able
to meet the demand for public e- mail and Internet service in a
cost-effective manner."
Mr. Ouellet continued: "At the airport, we are dealing with a unique
type of customer - a person who is either in a hurry or has time on his
hands. Either type of traveller can take advantage of this service.
Interactive Zone kiosks provide functions designed to meet the needs of
travellers. Plus, for many businesspeople, Internet access has become
as essential as access to a telephone!"
Francois Martel, Project Manager, Marketing, for Aeroports de
Montreal, says: "Aeroports de Montreal is proud that the Dorval,
Mirabel and downtown terminals are among the first in Canada to be able
to offer travellers a direct, interactive connection to the world. By
adding Interactive Zone kiosks to its wide range of products and
services, Aeroports de Montreal is continuing its efforts to improve
the airport experience for both business and leisure travellers. It is
also bringing the Dorval, Mirabel and downtown terminals into the era
of the 'smart' airport."
Bell Interactive Zone kiosks will prove extremely useful to a wide
variety of travellers, such as:
- The manager of a small business who wants to send up-to-the-minute
information via an e- mail to employees the instant he/she gets off a flight.
- The broker who needs to check stock listings frequently and will be
able to do so between flights.
- The vacationer leaving for Vancouver or France, who will have
access to
the most up-to-date tourist information by consulting the Internet
prior to embarking.
This new service boasts the latest features in multimedia and
touch-screen technology - all in a high-speed domain. Equipped with
audio and video capability, the new kiosks also feature a keyboard and
printer. Reliable and secure are two key descriptors of the Bell
Interactive Zone kiosk.
