Theatre Management Solution to be implemented in
AMC's largest sites
Radiant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: RADS), a leading provider of integrated technology solutions to retailers worldwide, announced today that it has signed a 4-year contract with AMC Theatres to implement Radiant's Theatre Management Solution in many of its largest facilities around the world.
The Radiant Theatre Management Solution includes box office ticketing, concessions point of sale, site management systems and consumer-activated ticketing kiosks, and will be deployed at sites throughout the United States and in select international markets. Approximately 70 of AMC's largest theatres, representing more than 2,600 point-of-sale terminals, will be deployed in the second half of 1999.
The Theater Management Solution will support AMC's industry-leading MovieWatcher(R) customer loyalty program in providing patrons quick retrieval for advance ticket sales ordered through the telephone, Internet, or automated kiosks. Both the ticketing kiosks and the concession terminals will be deployed on Radiant's MediaClient CE hardware platform. "This is a great example of the ability that the MediaClient CE platform has to scale down and replace closed architecture, legacy point-of-sale systems," says Jimmy Fortuna, Product Line Director for Radiant Systems. "We understand that today's retailers want lower cost of ownership along with the benefits of open systems. "
Radiant Systems has worked with Microsoft in the development of Windows CE-based retail devices for the past two years. "Microsoft is committed to delivering high-performing products to the retail industry via the Windows CE platform," says Tony Barbagallo, Group Product Manager of Windows CE at Microsoft Corp. "Radiant Systems has consistently shown the ability to create a broad range of Windows CE-powered systems that allow companies to provide a new level of efficiency and service to their customers."
In addition to the software and hardware commitments, the program also includes a professional services team responsible for project management, retail consulting, product development and implementation services. "The aggressive nature of the schedule heightens the importance of project management, implementation services and consulting," says Chris Lybeer, Vice President and Managing Director of the Entertainment Industry Group at Radiant Systems. "We are thrilled to be working with AMC, helping them achieve their goals with regards to improved customer loyalty, operational efficiency and internet presence."
With the addition of AMC Theatres, Radiant Systems now counts five of the world's top ten movie theater chains among its clients.
