MicroTouch Announces Bravo Slide-On Touchscreen Kit for Philips
Flat-Panel Monitor
METHUEN, Mass., Aug 31, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- MicroTouch Systems,
Inc. the world leader in touchscreen products, today announced the
North American introduction of Bravo, a 15" user-installable
touchscreen for the Philips Brilliance 151AX flat-panel monitor.
Jointly developed in Europe by MicroTouch and Royal Philips Electronics
of the Netherlands, Bravo supplies the growing number of Philips users
a cost-effective alternative for adding touch to an existing system.
Users simply slide Bravo onto the Philips monitor after removing the
existing bezel and plug in the serial controller to the back of the
monitor. The Bravo kit consists of a capacitive touchscreen with bezel,
controller, software CD, Bravo QuickStart Guide, and a five-year touch
component warranty. This complete slide-on touchscreen solution is
available immediately and priced at $584.
Philips monitors have superior picture clarity and an ultra-slim
design. The Bravo slide-on kit incorporates a new bezel with a
MicroTouch anti-reflective touchscreen. Since Bravo replaces the
existing Philips bezel, the ultra slim design is maintained. The
Philips Brilliance 151AX takes up one-sixth the depth, consumes about
one-third the power, and generates significantly less heat than a
comparable CRT monitor.
"The Bravo product has been popular among Philips customers in Europe
since it's release in December 1998. We anticipate the same positive
response and demand from Philips users in the U.S.," said Kelly
Corbeil, Product Marketing Manager at MicroTouch.
MicroTouch's Bravo product uses capacitive touchscreen technology,
which is the most responsive and durable in the industry, providing the
shortest touch contact requirement, high resolution, and superior
accuracy. Monitors incorporating MicroTouch capacitive touch technology
stand up to rough handling, are scratch-resistant, and impervious to
screen contaminants such as dirt, water, grease and chemicals.
