IMAGIC INFOMEDIA TECHNOLOGY: Multimedia payphone system on display at Telecom 99
SEP 10, 1999, M2 Communications - iMagic Infomedia Technology,
developers of the world's first and most globally deployed multimedia
payphone, today announces its formal introduction of PowerPhone into
the European market. Designed to revolutionise the way people obtain
and use information, the PowerPhone will be demonstrated at Europe's
leading telecoms conference, TELECOM 99.
A contender for the 1999 FT Telecom's Most Innovative Fixed Product
of the Year award, PowerPhone is a convergence of telephony, computing,
kiosk technology, e-commerce and advertising, and will also deliver
e-business solutions (fax, email and dataJack connectivity) and
Internet access to the public. With an established presence in Asia
Pacific Rim and the US, PowerPhone's European debut is hotly
anticipated.
"PowerPhone's success in the US, Hong Kong and China has given us the
grounding to deploy on a more global scope," states Dorothy Cheng,
1Magic founder and CEO. "With more than 1000 PowerPhones already sold
in these countries we are more certain than ever that it will be an
asset to the European community."
Benefits to the General Public
Users of the multimedia payphone will be able to send emails and have
access to the Internet, together with a number of additional
interactive on-screen information services. PowerPhone's thermal
printing capability enables users to print items such as tickets to
concerts, leisure parks and films ordered over the Internet.
The only solution of its kind to provide up-to-the-minute CNN news
for users, PowerPhone also serves as a valuable resource for
travellers, providing tourist information via its prominent, full
colour touchscreen, including recommended accommodation, restaurants,
location maps, nightlife venues, local attractions and financial
service locations. For user convenience PowerPhone possesses an
"all-in-one" payment solution, including credit cards, smart cards, pre
paid phone cards, telephone cards and coins.
"When we developed PowerPhone, our goal was to create an advanced
public access solution for everyone to enjoy - without the need for
training or requiring an in-depth knowledge of the technology. With
PowerPhone everyone can reap the benefits of multimedia technology and
the Internet without having to personally invest in the technology,"
said Cheng.
Benefits to the Carriers/Service Providers
PowerPhone's user friendly interface allows service providers to
supply personalised value- added customer information, enabling
telephone companies to develop tailored solutions to meet the diverse
needs of their customers. It serves as a highly effective advertising
and promotion medium, enabling commercial organisations to provide
product and service information on PowerPhone with customer feedback
and enquiry handling capabilities.

award-winning PowerPhone. Headquartered in Hong Kong, iMagic is
