Northwest Airlines E-Service Centers Make Holiday Travel Easier at Hartsfield International

ATLANTA, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Checking in for Northwest Airlines' (Nasdaq: NWAC) flights from Atlanta has never been easier since the introduction of Northwest Airline's E-Service Center. On November 22, 1999, Northwest unveiled six of its popular E-Service kiosks just in time for the busy holiday travel season. Northwest passengers in Atlanta can now use the popular kiosks to obtain seat assignments, receive boarding passes, and take advantage of a host of other services previously available only at Northwest Airlines' service counters.

"Our E-Service Centers allow Northwest customers to more quickly navigate Hartsfield, which is one of the world's busiest airports," said Al Lenza, vice president distribution planning. "E-Service Centers give our customers the quickest path to the plane, a particularly important option during the holidays when we have more passengers traveling than normal," he added.

Four Northwest Airlines E-Service Centers will be located in the airport lobby near the airline's main ticket counter and two E-Centers will be located on Concourse D near Northwest's arrival and departure gates. Atlanta is the 20th Northwest city to receive the self-service kiosks. Today, nearly 100 kiosks are available for self-service check-in at Northwest's hubs in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Detroit and Memphis. In the hubs, nearly 20 percent of Northwest passengers take advantage of the E-Service kiosk's fast and convenient check-in services.

On day of travel, Northwest's Hartsfield E-Service Centers can be used within six hours of flight departure to:

-- Check luggage (available at the four E-Service Centers near Northwest's main ticket counter)

-- Check in and obtain a boarding pass in as little as 30 seconds

-- Change or confirm a seat assignment

-- Enter or change a WorldPerks number on a reservation

-- Obtain WorldPerks Elite upgrades

-- Change to an earlier or later flight on the same day (when using a fully refundable fare)

-- Purchase an upgrade to First Class on available flights with Northwest E-First, available only at E-Service Centers for select flights

-- Obtain a copy of your E-Ticket receipt

Northwest passengers who check in at any E-Service Center by Dec. 31, 1999, will earn 1,000 WorldPerks Bonus Miles. In addition, customers who purchase tickets for the first time through http://www.nwa.com by Dec. 31, 1999, can earn 4,000 WorldPerks Bonus Miles.
