MP3.com Announces Launch of Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos '5 1/2 Weeks Tour'

Opening Acts Hand Picked by Headliners Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos Are Part of MP3.com's Community of Artists

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- MP3.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: MPPP - news) today announced that Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos have launched their highly anticipated ``5 1/2 Weeks Tour.'' The 26-city tour, which is co-sponsored by MP3.com, will begin on August 18 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and wrap up in Los Angeles on September 26. Along with performances by headliners Alanis Morisette and Tori Amos, concerts will include sets from five talented new artists handpicked by Alanis and Tori from the MP3.com music community.

The five opening artists will each take roughly one week of support slots on the ``5 1/2 Weeks Tour.'' Commenting on the ``5 1/2 Weeks Tour,'' Robin Richards, president and chief operating officer of MP3.com said, ``We're excited to be able to provide these artists with the opportunity to perform in front of arena-sized crowds and showcase their music to tens of thousands of potential fans. This is consistent with our mission to create a reciprocal sense of community between artists and music enthusiasts.''

MP3.com has teamed up with Best Buy, also a co-sponsor of the tour, to create a technology road show to showcase internet-delivered digital music technology at tour sites. Fans will be able to visit an interactive technology tent for a hands-on demonstration of the latest MP3 technology. They will also be able to visit a number of the touchscreen kiosks in the tent to send an exclusive Alanis/Tori digital postcard to a friend, among other activities.

THE MP3.COM OPENING ACTS WILL INCLUDE:

LOTUSLAND: Comprised of members of the former TAG/Atlantic act Ugly

Beauty, Lotusland combines Christy Schnabel's haunting vocals with a dark

musical element to create a unique brand of eerie Alterna-pop.

GRETA GAINES: The first Women's Extreme Snowboard Champion (Valdez,

Alaska, 1992), Greta Gaines now channels her extreme energy into a more

mellow songwriting craft, delivered with a passionate vocal style.

SCI-FI LULLABY: Under the name Ultrahorse, Sci-Fi Lullaby recorded a

critically acclaimed album for 911 Entertainment that showcased its

penchant for writing catchy alternative rock and synth hybrids with pop

    sensibilities.

CHLOROPHYLL: Taking cues from both modern rock and traditional folk

styles, Chlorophyll is branding themselves as "an accessible cross between

Radiohead and Jeff Buckley" -- a comparison they easily live up to.

RAY LANE: British native Ray Lane is a consummate storyteller, utilizing

the platform of straight-ahead guitar-driven rock to spin tales of life,

love, loss and redemption without sacrificing an upbeat musical edge.

In addition to introducing these opening acts to the world, MP3.com has designed an exclusive concert website (www.alanisandtori.com) to promote and host tour events, including online chats, a live broadcast from the Minneapolis concert on September 16 and a VIP sweepstakes, featuring prizes such as a two-year lease of a new VW Beetle, free concert tickets, Diamond RIO MP3 players, CDs, T-shirts and more. The alanisandtori.com site will also provide access to exclusive Alanis and Tori scrapbook photos and daily concert coverage, as well as compilation CDs and ticket sales.

As part of its sponsorship of the ``5 1/2 Weeks Tour,'' MP3.com is also sponsoring an online chat with Alanis and Tori hosted by MTV.com and SonicNet. The chat gives anxious fans the opportunity to ask their favorite artists pre- concert questions about the tour and each other.
