San Francisco International Airport Selects SeePoint CounterPoint Kiosks

San Francisco, California - Visitors to San Francisco Airport's new International Terminal will have a world of information literally at their fingertips.

The new International Terminal features CounterPoint countertop kiosks designed and manufactured by SeePoint Technology of Torrance, California. SeePoint, a leading manufacturer of fully integrated, interactive kiosks, was selected by the San Francisco International Airport to provide an initial rollout of ten countertop kiosks for use by an expected 12 million passengers each year.

Located throughout what will become the United States' largest international airport terminal, the kiosks will provide travelers with information about airport services including gate locations, the consolidated rental car center, the BART station, airport rail system, and restaurants and retail stores located in the terminal.

According to Alice Sgourakis, SFO Ground Transportation Manager, with oversight responsibility for the project in the Landside Operations department, "The kiosks blend well with the new International Terminal's streamlined décor and provide an easy-to-use alternative to supplement the Airport's staffed information booths. They also provide readily available information between midnight and 8:00 a.m. when the information booths are closed. This is very important in helping us achieve our customer service goals. In addition to providing information on Airport facilities and services, the kiosks also provide a direct link to the City's web page."

The CounterPoint countertop kiosks selected by the airport include features designed to achieve the Airport's customer service goals. Each kiosk employs both a touch screen for easy and intuitive navigation as well as an industrial quality, vandal resistant keyboard enabling users to choose how to interface with the kiosks. The International Terminal kiosks also feature the patented wire management system that is a hallmark of SeePoint's unique all-in-one kiosk solution. This wire management system streamlines maintenance of the kiosk system and maximizes the availability of the terminal's kiosks.

The SeePoint kiosks also addressed the Airport's concerns about system security. The robust quality of the CounterPoint kiosks is enhanced by the Airport's selection of SeePoint's patented metal enclosure, which protects the enclosed computer against dust, moisture and impact. The systems do not have accessible plugs, drives or switches to deter tampering and will be bolted to the countertops with a specially designed column to ensure protected and secure access to the kiosks.

Additionally, the Airport selected SeePoint as its kiosk vendor based on SeePoint's custom manufacturing capabilities. SeePoint created a security enclosure for and integrated the Wurtec Helper Phone, which is a voice prompted audio handset, on the Airport kiosks. Thus, travelers with visual disabilities may also benefit from the Airport's kiosk deployment.

Beth Mingle and Francis Starr, Landside staff responsible for coordinating the implementation of the kiosks have been pleased with their interaction with SeePoint, "SeePoint has been very responsive and timely in meeting deadlines, our design specifications and the Airport's formal Design Review process."
