Netkey Receives IBM StoreProven Designation for Web Kiosk Software Solutions

BRANFORD, Conn. -- August 28, 2001 - Multi-channel retailers in pursuit of software applications that have been tested and thoroughly analyzed to ensure compatibility with IBM (NYSE: IBM) kiosk hardware can now shorten their search. Netkey, Inc., the number one provider of software and services for Internet kiosks, announced today that its broad suite of software offerings has received IBM's StoreProven designation for the NetVista kiosk.

Today's time-pressed consumers are increasingly demanding reliable self-service kiosk solutions that will enable them to order merchandise, access loyalty programs, review product information and search for in-store or out-of-stock items with speed and accuracy. The StoreProven program, identified with an emblem, was created to help retailers find dependable solutions from providers whose offerings have met strict compatibility guidelines for IBM point-of-sale (POS) platforms, which can result in increased operational efficiency, reduced costs and improved customer service.

"Netkey has proven to be a major industry player with an impressive track record in delivering market-ready software applications backed by great service, which inevitably yields long-standing relationships with Business Partners and retailers," said Robert Henshaw, retail hardware manager, IBM Retail Store Solutions. "Netkey's impressive list of retail clients and strong relationships with software developers, Web designers, consultants, integrators and resellers are examples of the company's ongoing commitment to offering retailers highly effective solutions and quality service."

IBM's value-added resellers (VARs) - business partners, distributors and independent software vendors that provide special services or software - receive the designation after taking their products through a series of more than 50 tests in all. Tests range from checking that all features and functions work correctly, to confirming that printers print at the right speed and support a number of typefaces. The test results are then submitted to an IBM POS test team for review.

"We understand that dependable self-service kiosk solutions are a critical component of a retailer's overall strategy to provide more choices and convenience through multichannel retailing," said Robert Ventresca, director of marketing for Netkey. "The StoreProven designation encourages retailers to purchase our software with confidence, knowing that they'll reduce time in the selection process and benefit from a timely, trouble-free roll-out of their IBM NetVista solution. Netkey's proven software applications, combined with IBM hardware, work together to deliver the effective one-to-one attention consumers want while shopping in stores, which can result in higher sales for retailers."

Worldwide, approximately 60 percent of IBM POS is sold through value-added resellers. Netkey's StoreProven software solutions are now directly linked to IBM's NetVista kiosk product pages on the IBM web site and various IBM solution databases.
