Elo TouchSystems Adds iTouch "Touch-on-Tube" Surface Wave Technology to Entuitive 15" and 17" Rear Mount CRT Touchmonitors

Unique iTouch Technology Now Available for Kiosk Applications in Retail Markets. Elo TouchSystems, Inc., the global leader in touch technology and a unit of Tyco Electronics Corporation has extended its range of Entuitive brand of kiosk-based touchmonitors that incorporate the company's unique iTouch "touch-on-tube" surface wave technology. The new 15" and 17" iTouch-enhanced Entuitive CRT Rear Mount touchmonitors complement Elo's existing 19" and 21" high-end computer-grade touchmonitors that already incorporate an iTouch interface. Retail applications will benefit from the expansion of Elo's iTouch technology because its durability, breakage resistance and image quality will help improve productivity. The new iTouch-enhanced Entuitive 15" and 17" touchmonitors will be available at the same price point as Elo's popular IntelliTouch touchmonitors, making them even more cost-effective.

Scratch-Resistant, Greater Stability
iTouch "touch-on-tube" technology eliminates the need for a glass overlay by applying the technology directly on the CRT faceplate. Adding iTouch technology to Elo's Entuitive 15" and 17" touchmonitors makes them the perfect choice for kiosk-based applications where durability and breakage resistance are important. The CRT faceplate is several times stronger than even a bonded touchscreen overlay, making it less susceptible to breakage or damage by vandalism. An iTouch-enhanced touchscreen can "reprogram" around scratches and other surface contaminations like gum, grease and dirt, while retaining the "no-drift", stable performance and proven reliability of surface wave technology. more.....

According to Scott Smith, Elo's strategic marketing manager, the new iTouch-enhanced Entuitive touchmonitors are the ideal choice for self-service and kiosk-based applications, such as point-of information (POI) kiosks, point-of-purchase (POP) promotions, electronic catalogues, in-store e-commerce, ticketing kiosks.

"The natural reliability, stability and durability inherent in an iTouch-enhanced touchmonitor means consistent operation with less maintenance. That translates into more uptime and greater profitability for operators and developers," says Smith. "By maintaining our existing price-point and providing the very latest touchscreen technology, these new touchmonitors provide a unique offering that will furnish kiosk-based application developers and users with a distinct competitive edge."

"Elo is building on its existing success in providing touchscreens for kiosk-based applications. Our IntelliTouch surface wave technology has proven the most popular touch technology within this marketplace because it provides the brightest, clearest and most durable displays that require the least maintenance," says Stephan Herron, European Marketing Manager for Elo TouchSystems. "iTouch touch-on-tube' technology builds on the success of IntelliTouch by eliminating the glass overlay and placing the touchscreen directly on the CRT surface. This not only improves light transmission to 100 percent and significantly increases colour purity and graphic quality, but also takes advantage of the CRT's natural resilience and anti-glare and anti-reflective coatings. The end-result is that the user sees sharp, high-contrast images and unaltered colour depth," concluded Herron.
