TouchVision Delivers Technical Care to the Long Beach Health DepartmentSEAL BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 1999--TouchVision Friday announced the completion of a two-part multimedia project for the Long Beach Health Department of Long Beach, Calif. The first phase of this project was the redesign of an existing Web site, www.ci.long-beach.ca.us/health, to increase visibility in the community. The second half of this project resulted in the implementation of a touchscreen kiosk system in the Long Beach Health Department building, which incorporates the newly developed Web site. The Long Beach Health Department Web site was redesigned to be functional, easy-to-use, and easy to maintain by departmental staff. Added features for the site included the online ordering and payment of birth and death certificates, pet adoption and licensing capabilities, current health data, and links to related health resources. TouchVision's choice in clean and simple graphical design helps the community easily find information and navigate through the Web site. The Long Beach Healthy Touch Kiosk Network consists of 18 touchscreen kiosks, strategically placed throughout Long Beach Health Department buildings. Each kiosk is an information center for visitors to the building, with topics ranging from home safety, immunization information, pregnancy health, and baby nutrition. Visitors have the option of listening to the health topics in English or Spanish. The kiosk screens also boast a link to the Long Beach Health Department Web site, which provides functions and current health information, for visitors who do not have access to the Internet. Bryce Agnew, vice president of operations for TouchVision, said, ``The Long Beach Healthy Touch Kiosk project truly demonstrates the flexibility and technical capability that TouchVision delivers to customers who need a complete kiosk system solution.'' The kiosk system was based on interactive CD-ROM material provided to the Long Beach Health Department from the University of Texas. TouchVision engineers developed software to work with the interactive multimedia CD-ROM, illustrating their ability to integrate third party and back-end systems into any kiosk network system. TouchVision provides end-to-end business solutions using the Internet, interactive displays and Internet-enabled touchscreen kiosks by integrating systems, publishing and distributing broadband media, creating e-commerce enterprises and providing outsourcing services for the retail, entertainment, tourism and healthcare markets. TouchVision helps businesses use the latest digital interactive technology to more effectively compete in the rapidly changing electronic commerce landscape.
